Quick Checklist
If you read nothing else, read this:

You’ll be seated at a table with a small group of players and a Dungeon Master.
Games are collaborative storytelling experiences, combining:
Roleplaying and character interaction
Problem-solving and exploration
Combat and dice rolling
New players are absolutely welcome.

There are three main game types at Winterfest.
Daytime sessions - 3-hour, one-shot adventures that run during the morning and afternoon sessions both days.
Dungeons After Dark - A special 18+ 3-hour one-shot session held on the Saturday night. Bar sales of alcohol at the session. No BYO.
Campaign Games - Weekend-long adventures that follow a longer story that runs during the daytime sessions on Saturday and Sunday. If you join a campaign game, you can still attend Dungeons After Dark, but not any of the daytime sessions.

Standard 3-hour one-shot game sessions run in Centenary Hall. This includes the daytime game sessions and Dungeons After Dark.
Campaign games run in Rowan Hall

Please arrive at least 30 minutes early to your session be seated at a table.
Daytime sessions:
Start at 9:00am and 2:00pm
Run for approximately 3 hours
Please plan to stay for the full session, as games are designed to run as complete adventures
Dungeons After Dark
7pm - 10pm
Campaign games
Start at 9am Saturday morning
Note: Campaign games and Dungeons After Dark sessions may follow different schedules — check your ticket or event listing for details.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the venue during the event. Plus the midday break is long enough to eat in town if you like.
You’re welcome to bring your own snacks — just be mindful of shared table space.
Dungeons After Dark has a bar available. No BYO.

Winterfest aims to be welcoming and accessible for all players.
The venue is wheelchair accessible, with an additional accessible toilet on site
Carers and support persons receive free entry when assisting a player
Volunteers are available throughout the event if you need assistance
Sensory note:
The event takes place in a large hall with many games running at once, so noise levels can be high. We take steps to reduce this, but recommend bringing headphones or other supports if you are noise-sensitive.See the Accessibility page for full details.

If you experience any issues or feel unsafe, speak to an organiser or volunteer for assistance. We can be identified by out lanyards and volunteer t-shirts
All Winterfest attendees must follow the event Code of Conduct.
This applies to all sessions, including Dungeons After Dark.

No — pre-generated characters are provided for all games.
You’re welcome to bring your own character, but:
Use is at the DM’s discretion
Must follow PHB + 1
No homebrew (unless pre-authorised by the DM)

Dice and miniatures are generally required for the games, however you may be able to borrow dice or miniatures at your table
Vendors will have dice, miniatures, and paint available for purchase
Dice are available for as little as $5 a set

Not at all. We always welcome beginners at our tables, and we are happy to provide help and guidance
If you can describe what your character wants to do, your Dungeon Master will guide you through the rest.
If you are a total beginner we recommend you choose one of our beginner-friendly games.

Minimum age: 12 years
Ages 12–18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Non-playing carers or adult guardians of younger players are admitted free.
When choosing games for younger players make sure you check the descriptions to find a suitable game. Some sessions may include more mature themes.

A pickup and drop off courtesy bus service is available to deliver players to the Showgrounds and take them safely home again after Dungeons After Dark.
Check Facebook on the weekend for pickup and times and locations.
